Colorado School of Dental Assisting (CSDA) was one of my greatest opportunities to fulfill my passion for dentistry. Within the accelerated program I was able to connect on a one on one basis with my instructors which helped tremendously with any questions or concerns I had. The instructors made class fun and interesting. Once the students learned most of the labs we collaborated together and helped each other with each project. We were also given the opportunity to have a hands on experience with all the instruments and get a feel for what it truly would be like working in a dental office. From my experience while attending CSDA I was excited to attend class every day and see what was next on the agenda. The instructors made it fun to learn about dentistry and made sure everyone was on the same page before moving forward. CSDA was definitely a great experience and if I could do it all over again I would. Who knows... maybe I'll just register again because it was so much fun!

New to this thing...
Hello! Well this is my first time to write on this. I am pretty excited since I love to talk. I will start off that we are the first class at the NSDA School in Plano, TX and we all love it. It has been a new beginning for all of us. From the time we walked in that door and knew nothing to the time now where we are talking about Oral Maxillary Surgey, we all feel so smart ( haha ). I have had a time of my life in this program , all the new material we learn to all the great people and instructors we have met. I have made some amazing friends.
We are almost getting closer and closer to our State RDA Test and it is so nerve-racking. We have formed a study group among the girls in the class, so I am sure we will all be studying super hard, the next few weeks!!! On Sunday we were doing mouth impressions and labs like crazy, it really feels like a true work day on lab days, so my job is going to be lots of fun, I am EXCITED!
Also our class has to start looking for externships :) exciting ? It is confusing where to start, but i think we will all do great!!!
Until Next Week :)

We're back up
Sorry folks. We had a little break from our blog as Google changed their settings. But we've figured it out and we're back up. So keep checking our blog and follow real students' experiences as they go through our dental assisting program.

Week Ten
Prosthodontics is the name of the game this week. If saving teeth is no longer a possibility, this is a word you will become familiar with. Dentures and implants. Feeling faint? Well, don't worry... we also learned CPR! We can revive you, just in time for the final exam (haha).
As a side note, I have been fortunate to have found a working interview at a general dentist's office and have also been invited back! It is incredible beyond words. Every patient is different, every case is different, I am in there hands-on and working side-by-side with some wonderful people that are patient and helpful. I enjoy every patient that sits before me and greatly respect my team and dentist. The time flies by, and I am excited to wake on the mornings I return to them. I hope everyone is as fortunate and as pumped as I am!
The final is around the corner. This is your last opportunity to ask any and all questions so please take it, if you have them to ask. Good luck all--you will do beautifully!

Week Nine
We're doing Perio, folks! We have new charting and a whole new respect for our gums! I can tell you from personal experience at my externship (perio office) that tissue and bone grafting is some amazing stuff. Anybody that is a patient or a team worker at a perio office now has a close relationship with floss! It is truly an incredible specialty to study and be apart of.
Another week down... keep your focus.

Week Eight
Hello all! By now everyone is starting externships, completing them, and some are finding working interviews and finding their place in the dental assisting field! In class we are learning about cements, liners, bases, crowns, bridges, and (as usual) all the many instruments and terminology to go with it. Things are moving quickly and there's plenty of information to soak up!
Go with the "flowable" and "cement" your place in a dental office! (corny, I know) Only a handful of weeks left!

Week Seven
Hello all! I want to meet Mr. Tofflemire and Mr. Hemostat... anybody else? Instruments everywhere, fast-paced procedures, and plenty of information was the name of the game this week. It's all good stuff, it's all fun stuff, and it makes me wish that it was more than 2 days a week. Good news is: it will be!
Pictures will be posted on next blog entry! Enjoy you're week!
